>10,000 illegal school buses operating in Johor
There are some 10,000 school buses operating illegally in Johor, putting students’ safety at risk. Iskandar Malaysia Public Transportation Board (PAIM) chief executive Mohd Gadaffie Abd Azi, said it had been discovered that most of the illegal buses were in bad condition and not safe to be on the road. Furthermore, passengers on these buses are not covered by insurance in the event of accidents.
> Ban on picking cockles at Marang beaches
Marang district police have banned the public from picking cockles along beaches in Marang, Terengganu, after five people nearly drowned at Pantai Rusila and had to be rushed to hospital. Marang district police chief, deputy supt Risikin Satiman said signs had been put up along beaches, from Pantai Susila to Rhu Dua, warning the public of strong waves and uncertain weather conditions. On Nov 21, Bernama reported that many villagers has flocked to beaches in Terengganu to collect cockles that had washed up on the shore.
