Need for wider range of discourse on religious matters, say activists

Can we have both liberal and conservative Malay mindsets?

BEING liberal is considered a "dirty word" by the Malay community today and does not have a very positive connotation within the Malay mindset, which is generally conservatively religious, says Prof Dr Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi.

He was speaking in a Facebook web forum LeadUS Critical Discourse: Does The Malay Mind Need to be Liberated? on Jan 10. LeadUS is a leadership-driven think tank and platform for ex-members of Malaysian Islamic Study Group (MISG) in the United States and Canada to share experiences and exchange ideas.
