WORKING as a part-time sales assistant in Seremban for an exclusive high-end retail brand, Priya* earned a basic salary of RM1,100 – the lowest legal wage allowed for 2019. This was despite the fact that the global company has an illustrious name, and its retail products can fetch up to RM600 per piece with an average item costing RM250.
Worse, says the-20-year-old, her salary could be deducted if she did not follow the “rules” of the company which included wearing full-face makeup for retail assistants.
