New oil spill scare in Peru’s Amazon region


LIMA: Authorities are scrambling to contain the fourth oil spill to sully Peru’s Amazon basin region this year, state oil firm Petroperu announced Wednesday.

It was implementing an environmental emergency plan to try to reduce the impact of a pipeline failure that struck at kilometer 364 of the number two pipeline in Condorcanqui, northern Peru.
