SHAH ALAM: The new education and higher education blueprints will be launched on Jan 20, says Fadhlina Sidek.

The Education Minister said the blueprints will be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Both blueprints will replace the current Malaysia Education Blueprint 2012-2025 and Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint 2013-2025, which ended last year.

Regarding the first day of the 2026 school year, Fadhlina said over 400,000 children began their primary schooling journey across the country.

She added that another 423,646 entered Form One nationwide as the 2026 academic calendar began yesterday (in some states).

She also said the early schooling aid has been distributed in cash to parents on the first day of school, and that parents should take the opportunity to meet with teachers and visit their child’s school.

“We hope it can be utilised because this is the government's commitment to ensure that all parents and all children, regardless of their age, benefit from public assistance at school today,” she said when launching SJKC Ladang Regent, Elmina, on Monday (Jan 12).

On another matter, Fadhlina said the ministry was considering all parents' views on the abolition of the UPSR and PT3 examinations, as well as the performance levels for the Classroom-Based Assessments, as it begins reviewing the reinstatement of the two national examinations.

“The review will be held this year, and we will announce (the results) as soon as possible,” she said.

Fadhlina also shared on Facebook that her youngest daughter began prefectural duties at her school on Monday.

“She already has a big mandate. A position that she considers a trust that must be carried out with all seriousness. That's it, eight million times ‘mummy’ had to hear her tell us why the responsibility as a small prefect is the same as the trust as education minister because she carries the same mandate, which is the trust of a leader,” she said in the post this morning.

Nationwide, more than five million students began the 2026 school year since Sunday.
