Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has appointed Sedania As Salam Capital chief executive officer Khairul Nisa Ismail as an adjunct fellow at the School of Computing (SoC) for a two-year term.

UUM College of Arts and Sciences assistant vice-chancellor and SoC dean Prof Dr Osman Ghazali said Khairul Nisa’s experience in leading digital transformation in the fintech industry will add significant value to the varsity’s academic ecosystem.

“This partnership aligns with UUM’s mission to cultivate impactful industry collaborations that translate knowledge into meaningful societal contributions,” he said in a press release dated Oct 22.

Khairul Nisa’s appointment last month was in recognition of her achievements and leadership in the fintech and technology sectors, underscoring her role as one of Malaysia’s foremost female leaders driving digital innovation and Islamic finance excellence.

As part of this appointment, she will contribute her industry expertise to advance UUM’s academic-industry collaboration, engaging in curriculum enrichment, industry advisory, and public lecture initiatives that nurture future-ready graduates for Malaysia’s digital economy.

Expressing her gratitude, Khairul Nisa said the appointment represents a meaningful opportunity to bridge academia and industry by sharing real-world insights that can inspire and empower the next generation of digital innovators.

“Together, we can strengthen Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in Islamic fintech and technology-driven sustainable finance,” she said.
