Igniting collective spirit with Semarak Komuniti

For our children: An exhibition showcasing projects and initiatives by the teachers were among the highlights at Semarak Komuniti.

Over 500 educators, students, policymakers and community leaders from across the country came together recently to celebrate the belief that collective effort is key to ensuring all children can realise their potential through quality education.

Officiated by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Semarak Komuniti was a gathering focused on reimagining the future of education in Malaysia.

Held on Aug 9 at The Campus and Mutiara International Grammar School, Ampang, the flagship event by Teach For Malaysia (TFM) featured a diverse line-up of interactive sessions, student panels, grassroots showcases and policy dialogues to spark collaboration and drive collective leadership towards education equity.

Participants included teachers, students, TFM fellows and alumni, ministry representatives, Unit Pantau Madani, community leaders, volunteers, corporate partners, Teach For All global network members, and the public.

This year’s edition brought the theme to life through three main tracks – Change in My Classroom, Change in My Community and Change in My Country – which guided participants through practical classroom innovations, community-led initiatives and critical national conversations.

Event highlights included interactive demonstration classes and a solutions-focused panel discussion to address Malaysia’s most pressing education issues.

TFM chief executive officer Chan Soon Seng said the event was a testament to the power of a community of educators and partners coming together to share breakthroughs, renew their collective commitment, and spark new possibilities for children.

“This energy should give all of us hope that together, we can build an even brighter Malaysia where all children can thrive,” he said in a press release.

The collaborative spirit, said TFM founding trustee and chairman Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz, reflects what is possible when Malaysians come together with a common purpose.

Note: TFM, an independent, not-for-profit organisation on a mission to give all children the opportunity to realise their potential through quality education, is inviting passionate young Malaysians to apply for its fellowship programme. For details, visit https://teachformalaysia.org/fellowship/
