TEACHER graduates will play a vital role in shaping the 2027 school curriculum and in driving the implementation of the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2026–2035.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia (IPGM) graduates are frontliners in implementing the curriculum and long-term education plan, with classroom transformation being the foundation of broader change.
“When we talk about reform, we must understand that some schools have great potential and serve as benchmarks for others.
“This is the responsibility of our young teachers – to go in and carry out the most important reform, starting in their classrooms,” she said.
Speaking at the IPGM convocation ceremony on July 3, where students from the June 2021 Bachelor of Teaching Degree Programme received their scrolls, she reminded graduates that teaching is more than a career.
“Education is the process of humanising individuals and teaching is a noble duty to the nation.
“It (teaching) is not just about shouldering the trust we have in you, but it is a national mandate.
“You are entrusted to carry out one of the most important duties – shaping lives and building the country’s future.
“Education is not something we implement today and see results tomorrow. It is a process of humanising – of making us truly human,” she said.
IPGM deputy chancellor Datuk Mohd Zamri Abdul Aziz echoed these sentiments, describing the graduation not as an endpoint but as the beginning of a purposeful journey.
“You will now start the journey as educators shaping the next generation.
“Life is not just about living, it must be filled with purpose,” he said, adding that the role of a teacher is not simply to instruct, but to shape children and instil the seeds of success in their souls.
Fadhlina also urged society to uphold the dignity of the teaching profession.
“It is a source of pride and must be celebrated.
“Being a teacher should not be seen as merely a job, but as a calling for those whose hearts truly burn with the spirit to educate,” she said.
The four-day 15th Education Ministry IPGM Convocation Ceremony, which began on June 30, celebrated 5,390 graduates who completed their studies and teacher training at 28 IPGM campuses and English Language Teaching Centres nationwide.
