A VIBRANT spirit of cultural unity came alive at SMK Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, as the school recently hosted the International Collaborative Programme for Nurturing Global Education 3.0.
Now in its third year, the brainchild of principal Mohd Fauzi Zailan brought together secondary students and educators from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and South Korea, from April 28 to May 8.
With the theme “culture and healthy living”, the week-long programme was designed to foster cross-cultural exchange and holistic student development. The initiative provided students with a platform to explore global perspectives, forge international friendships, and celebrate the richness of their diverse backgrounds.
The event featured a host of dynamic activities, including cultural performances, wellness talks, workshops, and projects that centred on healthy lifestyles and cultural heritage.
These hands-on experiences encouraged participants to share traditions while reflecting on the importance of physical and mental well-being in today’s interconnected world.
SMK Kota Kemuning senior assistant for student affairs Raja Mohan Semban said the school was deeply honoured to have hosted the meaningful event.
“This programme was more than just a cultural exchange; it was a step towards nurturing empathetic, informed and globally minded youth who will lead future communities with understanding and respect,” he said in a press release.
The programme saw students embracing the opportunity to immerse themselves in each other’s cultures – learning traditional dances, tasting regional cuisines, and engaging in multilingual conversations that sparked curiosity and camaraderie.
Educators, too, exchanged insights on the evolving needs of teaching and learning in the 21st century.
The programme culminated in a grand cultural showcase, where all five countries came together to perform, present and reflect on the values they shared.
The applause echoed not just for the performances, but for the friendships and understanding formed throughout the event.
In a proud moment, SMK Kota Kemuning was named the first prize winner for showcasing excellence in cultural collaboration and healthy lifestyle initiatives, before the programme – a growing movement that is planting the seeds of education beyond borders in young hearts across Asia – drew to a close.
