SOME 1,150 students across 12 schools in four South-East Asian countries are now equipped with the skills and knowledge to drive sustainable, innovation-led mobility, thanks to the “Future Mobility School” programme.

In its second edition, the recently held Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific Headquarters programme prepared children across South-East Asia for leadership in the evolving mobility landscape.

Led by 19 dedicated teachers, the programme built on the previous year’s success by deepening student engagement and fostering innovative thinking through engaging, enriching and immersive learning experiences.

Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific Headquarters president Sunny Kim said the Future Mobility School empowers young minds across the region with the skills and knowledge to lead in sustainable mobility. “By fostering creativity and innovation, we are equipping the next generation to make meaningful contributions to future mobility solutions,” he said in a press release dated Dec 13.

The programme’s hands-on, experiential approach fosters creativity and problem-solving in students as they address real-world topics like sustainable transportation, environmental education and innovation. The impact of this has resonated deeply with educators and students.Sharifah Nur Fazilah, a teacher from SK Seri Budiman, Kuala Terengganu, said the Future Mobility School stimulates pupils’ learning process, including their creativity and awareness of the environment.

During the programme, students were taught to recycle things, for example, turning used car seats into wallets.

Plans are underway to expand the programme to more South-East Asian countries.
