Opening doors for aspiring doctors

RUMC students gain valuable clinical experience through interaction with experienced clinicians.

RUMC (RCSI & UCD Malaysia), a prestigious institution offering the Foundation in Science (FIS) programme, is introducing exciting changes to its intake schedule and scholarship offerings.

Due to a positive response, RUMC is introducing an August intake for the FIS programme.

This additional intake will accommodate SPM leavers who only receive their final results in early to mid-June, allowing SPM graduates to transition seamlessly into the programme without any delay.

In addition, the new intake accommodates students completing their O-level or IGCSE qualifications. This ensures these students have ample opportunity to join the programme and embark on a journey towards a medical career.

Classes for the June intake will commence in July, while students enrolling in the August intake will attend classes from mid- August. For all talented students enrolling in the FIS programme, a 50% scholarship is offered to those achieving outstanding results of 6As and above.

What makes this scholarship unique is its structure, with 30% of the scholarship being awarded upon admission to the FIS programme and the remaining 20% awarded upon progression to the undergraduate medicine programme – ensuring continued academic excellence is rewarded.

RUMC’s FIS programme is more than just a foundational science course as students get an early introduction to the exciting world of medicine and clinical practice.

Students will build a strong foundation in core sciences like biology, chemistry and physics while acquiring essential laboratory skills.

This comprehensive programme gives students a significant advantage when progressing to their undergraduate medicine degree.

This allows its dedicated faculty to provide individualised attention and guidance, ensuring students’ success.

Additionally, students can interact with RUMC’s experienced clinicians and senior medical students, building valuable connections for their future medical careers.

Upon completing the FIS programme, students are guaranteed direct entry to RUMC’s prestigious five-year undergraduate medicine programme.

This allows them to pursue pre-clinical training at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) or the University of Dublin (UCD), RUMC’s renowned parent universities in Ireland – granting students access to a world-class medical education.

RUMC offers a truly unique learning experience by combining the academic excellence of Irish institutions with the cultural immersion of Malaysia, creating a best-of-both-worlds environment.
