ASIA Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) School of Marketing and Management senior lecturer Dr Arumugam G. Sithamparam has been appointed a referral expert to the 15th Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Finance and Economy (JKPKKE).

He is among 15 academics in the field of economics from both public and private higher education institutions selected to inform and advise policymakers on critical economic and finance-related matters.

Arumugam, who received his letter of appointment at an event officiated by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on Nov 27, 2023, expressed his gratitude for the support and nomination he received from APU’s academic leadership.

“I feel honoured to represent the varsity and serve our country as a referral expert to the Malaysian Members of Parliament.

“The selection was based on my projects and papers on international trade and non-tariff measures,” he said in a press release from APU.

“I would like to extend special thanks to Assoc Prof Dr Jason Turner, the senior head at the School of Business, and Assoc Prof Dr Devinder Kaur, the head at the School of Marketing and Management, for nominating me to the Higher Education Ministry for its review and selection,” he added.

Also present at the event were former higher education minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Higher Education director-general Prof Dr Azlinda Azman and JKPKKE chairman Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah.
