UKM wins big in kesum research


Congratulations: UKM researchers bagged the first and second prize for their studies on anti-pigmentation and potential cardioprotective properties of kesum, while the third prize was won by researchers from University of Nottingham Malaysia for novel extraction techniques of kesum.

STUDIES on anti-pigmentation and potential cardioprotective properties of kesum bagged Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) researchers the top two prizes at a national research challenge.

The industry-led competition organised by Biotropics Malaysia in collaboration with UKM on the benefits of kesum leaves saw University of Nottingham Malaysia researchers coming in third for their work on the novel extraction techniques to isolate bioactive compounds, including proteins and phenolic compounds, from kesum.
