Established in 2006, Sunway University Business School is ranked within top 2% in the world for Business and Management Studies according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020.

The School is affiliated with Le Cordon Bleu – one of the most distinguished organisations in the world devoted to culinary arts and hospitality education.

Students will also receive double certifications upon completing their programme from Sunway University and Le Cordon Bleu.

Creating a Better Living for the Next Generation- Medical and Life Sciences

In addition to being a provider of healthcare and life sciences education, the School is also known for research excellence in various areas.

To this end, it has fostered a collaborative network involving national and international researchers that focus on discovering new knowledge and translating discoveries to modalities and strategies that ultimately, save and improve the quality of lives.

School of Medical and Life Sciences, Department of Biological Sciences head Dr Kavita Reginald says, “The recent pandemic has shown us all the importance of biosciences – from the implementation of effective public health measures, the rapid pace in developing vaccines, and the understanding of the various strains of the virus. A degree in biosciences will train the next generation of scientists to arm us against the future health crisis”.

Many of the programmes offered are validated by Lancaster University, which means graduates receive double certification from Sunway University and Lancaster University.

Meanwhile, the Diploma in Nursing is built upon a strong relationship with Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) – a leading private medical centre in the region. Graduates also have the unique opportunity to go on to be employed at SMC.

Quantifying the World- Mathematical Sciences

Programmes here pave the way for careers in actuarial science, insurance, data science, and many more.

“In the recently released QS Stars Rating System, Sunway University’s BSc (Hons) Actuarial Studies (BAS) programme, achieved QS 5 Stars rating under the programme strength category. The 5 Stars rating is the highest that can be attained in the “Specialist Criteria”. We are honoured by this recognition and will continue to strive to propel the school to greater heights. We believe that mathematics is an important language for inventions, innovation, and ideas creation,” said Professor Ho Chee Kit, School of Mathematical Sciences Dean.

The School has international recognition by the professional bodies – The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) Society of Actuaries (SOA), Casualty Actuarial Society and SAS Certified Data Scientist certification.

Students will receive professional paper exemptions from IFoA 6 papers and SOA 3 VEE credits. For a more immersive educational experience, the faculty has in-house actuaries on board.

Reinvent the Future- Engineering and Technology

In recognition of the quality of education in the information technology field and commitment to the usage of advanced digital technology, the university has been awarded Premier Digital Technology Institution status by the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation.

Most programmes are offered in collaboration with Lancaster University, and the School is also known for excellence in research.

School of Engineering and Technology dean Prof Serge Demidenko says, “We aim to be at the core of the process of growing high capacity skilful specialists for the bright technological tomorrow. Developing and implementing new top-quality Engineering programmes have been imperative. This extension of our academic offerings has been underpinned by the School’s profound success in the domains of computing and information systems. Our excellence in the field was acknowledged by the Premier Digital Tech Institutions (PDTI) status awarded to Sunway University by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). It has been also based on the strong support from the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation, world-class level of our research activities, cooperation with the industry, and close links with the leading international academic institutions.”

The School prepares a new generation of students and researchers in the domain of creative digital media (CDM), merging core attributes of the arts, sciences, humanities, media and technology.

Most programmes are offered in partnership with Lancaster University.
