THE Malaysian English Language Teaching Association (Melta) will hold its 10th Melta International Research Conference in English Language Education online (Mircele Online).
This is the first time the research conference will be held virtually. It is scheduled for Nov 7.
The one-day online conference, in collaboration with the Education Ministry’s English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC), will feature three international speakers to cater to the diverse international participants, Melta said in a press release.
The speakers include the National Institute of Education, Singapore, Teacher Education dean and professor of education in applied linguistics and teacher learning Prof Low Ee Ling, University of Warwick, UK, Centre for Applied Linguistics Assoc Prof Troy McConachy and Monash University, Australia, Faculty of Education associate dean Assoc Prof Janet Scull.
“Unlike other conferences, Mircele Online 2020 is unique because it not only brings together researchers and academics, but also welcomes teachers and student teachers to deliberate on theoretical underpinnings and practical implications related to
the teaching and learning of English.
“This is in line with Melta’s desire to ensure that its events impact classroom practices, ” said Melta president Assoc Prof Dr Ramesh Nair.
The conference kickstarted on Oct 2 with a series of pre-conference webinars which will end on Oct 23.
