A TOTAL of 48,605 students who completed their STPM, or other equivalents, have obtained places in public institutions of higher learning (IPTA).
The 82.8% who were successful were among 58,668 applications for the 2020/21 academic year.
Meritocracy, said the Higher Education Ministry, was used in the intake process.
The quota system, it said in a statement, was stopped since the 2002/2003 intake.
Successful candidates have until Wednesday to accept the offers via the websites of the respective institutions.
The registration of new students at their universities is from Oct 2 depending on their respective institutions.
Those who did not get an offer are allowed to appeal via the UPUOnline at upu.mohe.gov.my until 5pm on Friday.
The appeal decision is subject to seat availability according to study programmes selected at the respective public universities.
The application status can be checked from the announcement websites, hotline 03-8870 8200, and the UPUPocket 2.0 mobile app.
The announcement websites are jpt.umt.edu.my/upu/, jpt.ums.edu.my/, jpt.unimas.my/indexstpm.jsp, jpt.uum.edu.my/ and jpt.utm.edu.my/.
