Parents going online for support

Online learning: Even kindergarten students are making use of the Internet with apps like Zoom to keep up with lessons and interact with their classmates.

AMERICAN mother Allison Harris-Turk has created a Facebook page called ‘Learning in the Time of Corona’ to connect with other parents in her situation and exchange resources.

Aimed at empowering and engaging parents, grandparents, childcare providers and friends, to connect and create an engaging environment for learning at home during the pandemic, the group has over 13,500 members in more than 50 countries, with 100,000 interactions.“Whether it’s through hosting watch parties, sharing editable templates, centralised discussions or connecting each other to topics of interest, the ultimate goal is to support each other as some of us suddenly become teachers in this uncertain time,” said Harris-Turk.
