Reading – a platform to launch other English skills

Sheela and her daughter, Aasheeka, trying the workbook at home.

THE idea to come up with a systematic, focused and sustainable English Language Programme with a focus on Sabah came from Anslem Tan and Amelia Uhen. Originally from Penang, they have made their home in Sabah.

Working closely with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Sabah that help promote education, particularly English, the couple felt the need for an English programme that could supplement the English language syllabus in schools or be used by these NGOs to help volunteers work with struggling readers to help them pass the English language examinations.
