Modern-day boarding for today’s parents

Boarding allows your child to be independent in a learning focused environment.

IF you are a successful, busy parent, juggling your career and home life or if you appreciate extra opportunities for your child to be independent in a learning focused environment, boarding could be a good option for you.

Nexus International School Malaysia is home to boarders from ages 10 to 18 from different states in Malaysia (including the Klang Valley) and all over the world. This provides learners with a supportive community, and a balanced programme that aims to nurture boarders to be independent and respectful of others in a multicultural environment.

Learners work towards their IGCSE qualifications in Year 11 and go on to take the IB Diploma programme for their pre-university course. This enables them to enter top universities around the world.

The school offers flexible stay options to suit the needs of modern-day living.

Flexible boarding options

Whether you are looking for a full boarding experience, a place for your child to be during your office hours or simply a boarding experience from Monday to Friday, Nexus boarding offers alternatives tailored for your needs. They will look after all your child’s needs including meals, supervision, tutoring, activities, companionship and more.

Full boarding

Learners board for the term and leave during the school holidays.

Weekday boarding

Learners stay from Monday to Friday and return home during the weekend.

Day boarding - an ideal option for working parents

Learners remain at school from 7.30am to 8pm, Monday to Friday. Parents will be able to pick their children up after activities and prep (homework) each day, making it a great option for those who would prefer to have their children sleep at home.

Nexus boarding lifestyle

Nexus boarding offers a fulfilling, enriching and learning focused experience that includes the following:

- After school coaching and personal tutoring.

- Sport activities such as swimming, netball, basketball, football and others.

- Weekly community service.

- Weekend activities such as cycling, trekking, baking, rock climbing, trips and festive parties.

That said, Nexus boarders can embrace sustainable development and environmental initiatives. They have links with the Tzu Chi Recycling Centre. In addition, humility and empathy is ingrained in every student’s lifestyle through community based activities. One such activity is Love in a Box where children in a home or orphanage are asked to write a wish and two or three boarders will then help them fulfill these wishes.

Besides activities that promote healthy living, close attention is placed on well-being and the promotion of mental health among the boarders.

“These days, a lot of children are dealing with stress, depression and anxiety. We have a weekly well-being programme that includes activities such as early morning fitness, yoga, hama beads crafting, playing board games and nutritional talks. All boarders participate in this programme, ” explains Nexus Boarding director, Troy Looms.

Nexus recognises the importance of communicating with parents. They are kept in the know about everything that happens in the boarding house through the use of an app that connects parents, teachers and students.
