PT3 Listening Test could be postponed

SCHOOLS in areas affected by the haze may postpone the Form Three Assessment (PT3) Listening Test for Malay Language, English and Al-Lughah Al-Arabiah Al-Muasirah until Oct 31.

The Education Ministry, in a statement, last Sunday said schools in districts or areas that were recording Air Pollutant Index (API) readings of more than 200 could postpone the test.

However, the test, which was scheduled for three days from Sept 23 to 25, would proceed in districts or areas that are not affected by the haze with strict monitoring by the State Education Department (JPN), District Education Office (PPD) and schools.

“Based on continuous monitoring nationwide, as at 5 pm on Sunday, most areas in peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak recorded unhealthy and very unhealthy API readings.

“The ministry understands the difficulties faced by schools, students and parents due to the haze, ” said the ministry.

It said JPN, PPD and school administrators had been informed on the steps to be taken in conducting the test including monitoring the API reading released from time to time by the authorities. - Bernama
