Run to be held at all TAR UC campuses

THE TARCian Run is back for the fifth consecutive year.

Jointly organised by Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) and the TARCian Alumni Association (TAA), it is set to be held on Aug 18.

The launch of the 2019 edition of the run was announced during a press conference held at the TAR UC Kuala Lumpur Main Campus.

Present at the press conference were TAR UC president Prof Dr Lee Sze Wei, TAA president Datuk Yap Kuak Fong and deputy president Datuk Chan Wah Kiang, organising chairman of TARCian Run 2019 Lim Kok Eng as well as TAR UC vice president Assoc Prof Dr Chook Ka Joo.

Also present were TAA secretary general Jackie Tan Choon Ling and vice president Bobby Tan Soy Mok as well as Sin Chew Daily general manager (Corporate Communications and Promotions) Tan Kim Chuan.

Since the first flag-off on March 15, 2015, the run has been well-received by avid runners and the public. The first TARCian Run in 2015 attracted more than 1,700 runners while the one held in 2018 had more than 10,000 participants.

The TARCian Run 2019 aims to attract 10,000 participants.

This year’s run consists of three categories – 11km TARCian (Men), 11km TARCian (Women) and a 5km Fun Run.

Similar to the past, this year’s run will be held concurrently at all TAR UC campuses nationwide in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang and Sabah. The run in Sabah will be held at the new campus located in Alamesra, Kota Kinabalu.

Prof Lee was enthusiastic about the run as this will be his first time taking part since he took over as president nine months ago.

“I urge the alumni and the current students and staff of TAR UC to show their support towards this event,” he said.

Yap said this is the fifth year that the TAA is organising the run together with TAR UC , adding that this is one of its most successful projects.

“The theme ‘Run for Unity’ speaks for itself as this aspect is very important among the TARCian community. We hope that this spirit of camaraderie will continue to flourish in the years to come,” he said.The TARCian Run 2019 is supported and sponsored by 11 sponsors namely BGMC Corporation Sdn Bhd, Ajiya Berhad, Ebara Pumps Malaysia Sdn Bhd, B&G Capital Resources Berhad, Felet International Holdings Sdn Bhd, RedOne, Regal Marketing & Trading Sdn Bhd, F&N Beverage Marketing Sdn Bhd and FKC International Inc., Nestle Milo and Nestle Fitnesse. Sin Chew Daily is the official media partner of the TARCian Run 2019.

Interested parties can register from now until July 5. TAR UC staff and students can register online through intranet whereas TAR UC alumni can register through TAA’s office located at Room A008, Ground Floor, Bangunan Tan Sri Khaw Kai Boh, TAR UC Kuala Lumpur Main Campus. A special TAR UC 50th Anniversary t-shirt will be given to every 100th participant.
