FOR those aiming to ace in accounting, nothing beats being awarded a professional certification. So for Sunway TES students who were recently conferred their titles of qualification, that day is certainly one to remember.
Sunway TES has been selected as the Centre for Accountancy Excellence (CAE) by the Malaysian government in November 2013 and aims to transform the country into a leading Asia Pacific accountancy hub by next year.
This April, the institution celebrates 532 graduates from the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) programmes, making this Sunway TES’s 38th Graduation ceremony this year.
Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)- Stepping stone to ACCA qualification
ACCA’s CAT is a vocational qualification designed to equip qualification holders with skills to support professional accountants.
Last September, outstanding CAT World Prize Winner from Sunway TES include Nurul Nabilah Mahyuddin, who was awarded both World Prize and Malaysian Prize for first place in Maintaining Financial Records, while Leong Wen Shan was awarded World Prize and Malaysian Prize for first place in Foundations in Taxation.
The qualification could be a stepping stone to an ACCA qualification and membership to the global body for professional accountants.
ACCA- 16 years of prestigious platinum status
Sunway TES CAE has been ACCA’s first learning partner in the world outside Europe to be awarded the Premier Plus Status in 2003 and earned a Platinum Approved Learning Status in 2007.
This year, Sunway TES’s ACCA top prize winner went to Ng Yee Won, who was awarded the World Prize and Malaysia Prize for first place in Audit Assurance in September 2018 sitting.
ACCA offers members fast-track to reputable employers worldwide, and the chance to lead businesses in sustainable success. Sunway TES CAE maintains strong connections with BDO, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PWC — the Big Five industry players — and most of its graduates gain employment opportunities there as well.
Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB)- Accelerated route to ICAEW qualification
ICAEW also has another qualification called the Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB), which provides essential knowledge in the fundamentals of finance, accounting and business, and can be used as an entry route into the ICAEW programme.
Sunway TES’s CFAB programme provides school leavers with an accelerated route to the prestigious ICAEW ACA qualification.
Its unique approach, which allows both classroom studies and practical work experience, offers a holistic learning experience and equips students with relevant skills to be an adept Chartered Accountant.
CFAB offers strategic alliances with Authorised Training Employers (ATEs) such as BDO, KPMG, Deloitte, PWC, the Sunway Group and more to provide work-based learning and ICAEW training contracts.
ICAEW- The only active provider in Malaysia
ICAEW is the largest professional accountancy body in Europe and provides leadership, as well as practical support to over 147,000 members in 160 countries. It works with governments, regulators and industries to maintain the highest standards.
