A TOTAL of 187 teachers who graduated from Teacher Education Institutes (IPG) last year have been posted to several primary schools in Sabah.
State Education Department director Mistirine Radin said the placement of the teachers was done based on their specialisations and the districts, which are in critical need of teachers.
She said most of the teachers involved specialised in English, Kadazandusun Language, Mathematics, Islamic Education, Early Childhood Education, Music Education, Physical Education and Special Education.
“With the postings of the new teachers, the percentage of Sabah-born primary school teachers has reached 86.81 percent.
“This is in line with the Education Ministry's target of 90:10 policy, which is to ensure that 90 percent of teachers in the state are locals,” she said at the briefing and presentation of the teaching placement letters to the teachers.
Mistirine also reminded the new teachers to uphold the teaching profession’s code of ethics and to adhere to the rules as set out in the Education Act and General Orders. — Bernama
