As one of the largest and most established education providers for this industry in Southeast Asia, the Faculty takes pride in consistently producing high calibre and industry-ready graduates.

In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018, Taylor’s University was recognised as the 21st university in the world for the Hospitality & Leisure Management subject. Taylor’s University jumped eight places from 29 to 21 compared to last year for the subject of Hospitality & Leisure Management. This achievement also places Taylor’s in the top two universities in Asia.

The Executive Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality, Food and Leisure Management, Dr Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan said that the excellent work put in by its academic staff along with the significant investment into research and the breadth of the Faculty’s collaboration with over 500 top hospitality partners worldwide were factors that contributed to this achievement.

“Last year, we made history by becoming the first Malaysian private university to enter the top 50 of the QS World University Ranking by Subject when we made it to top 30 in the world. This year, we did even better - signaling that we are on the right track in our quest to ensure the next generation are empowered with the technical know-how and critical skills required to be leaders in their own right.

“This outstanding global achievement is also thanks to our close partnership with the University of Toulouse - Jean Jaurès, the second oldest and one of the largest public universities in France. This excellent academic and research partnership has spanned over 32 years through the work we do together under the flagship of Taylor’s-Toulouse University Centre (TTUC),” he added.

Taylor’s University achieved yet another international success earlier this year when United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) awarded the Tourism Education’s higher quality certification to the university, making it the only university in Malaysia to receive this highest accreditation for excellence by the United Nations.

Through this recognition, Taylor’s University joins the rank of 52 other renowned universities around the world, such as Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and University of Queensland, Australia, who have carved a name for themselves in the area of Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Management academic programmes and researchinitiatives.

“Receiving this international recognition by UNWTO speaks volumes of our distinctive strengths - the outstanding teaching quality, significant impactful research conducted by our academicians, and the quality of graduates we produced,” said Dr Neethia.
