Distinctive business degree

BUSINESSES and its related degrees are popular among students largely because it is applicable to all industries. In a job market as competitive as today’s, a business-related degree opens up a world of opportunities for graduates.

Taylor’s Business School equips graduates with more than just the conventional degrees, but the opportunity to excel above the rest and equipped with the capabilities to defy conventions and be the disrupter of industries.

The School enriches students’ educational experience through various learning opportunities both in and outside the classroom to help students get the most out of their studies.

One example of this endeavour is its 10-week Industry Immersion Programmes. Selected students work on real-world projects that enable them to demonstrate their business management knowledge and skills in the real situations facing the companies. The experience provides opportunities for students in integrating and applying everything they have learned in class by analysing, researching, devising a viable business plan, and presenting their findings and recommendations to their assigned client.

Some of the companies that the School has been working with includes L’Oreal Malaysia, Unilever, Maybank, CJ Century Logistics, BDO, Teach For Malaysia and Aegis BPO Malaysia.

Through these real-world experiences, students gain the opportunity to improve their soft skills such as communication, critical thinking & problem solving, collaboration, creativity & innovation, and cultural adaptation skills, which will propel them into strategists and trendsetters in the Business world.

Taylor’s Business students are also given the coaching and the opportunity to participate in real-life business presentations and pitches, where they excelled and have gone on to clinch numerous awards as well as gained both national and international recognitions.

One example of the many successes is Team Trilogics for becoming the champions of the 22nd International Finals of L’Oréal’s Brandstorm business game in 2014, creating history as the first Malaysian team to win the title in Paris, France. Most recently this year, another group of students beat 25 teams from 15 universities across Malaysia to become the KPMG International Case Competition 2018 National Champions held in Kuala Lumpur.

With the Taylor’s Curriculum Framework, Business students now have the opportunity to learn beyond their initial discipline. This flexibility allows them to go deeper into their field, outside their field, go into many fields, or be good at two fields by taking a second major. For example, a Bachelor in Business student can specialise in Marketing or Human Resources or Finance or Banking, and have a minor in Psychology. If they feel that they want to go even deeper into Marketing, they can opt for a Bachelor in Business, specialising in Marketing, and do an extension in Digital Marketing or Multimedia Studies. Or, if they want to study two fields, they can do a Bachelor in Business, specialising in Marketing, and do a double major in Law.

As a globally connected university and top one percent in the world for Employer Reputation, Taylor’s provides world-class business education in collaboration with the University of the West of England (UWE), UK. UWE is ranked seventh best employment record in England in a DLHE survey by the Higher Education Statistics Agency, with 95 percent of its students in employment or study within six months after graduating.

The School also offers international Dual Award with Queensland University of Technology (QUT) for selected degrees. Students who successfully transferred and completed their final year at QUT Business School will graduate with a degree from both universities. QUT Business School is Australia’s first business school to earn all three symbols of excellence from the world’s leading accrediting bodies – Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business, International (AACSB), European Foundation for Management Development (EQUIS) and Association of MBAs (AMBA).
