SPM and STPM school-leavers can look forward to attractive discounts and scholarships that will be offered at the Star Education Fair 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Aug 4 and 5.

Exhibitors will be promoting their programmes during the two-day fair, which will feature local and international institutions.

School-leavers unsure of what to do next can meet experts on pre-university education and representatives to obtain more information on a wide range of certificate, foundation, diploma and postgraduate courses as well as professional qualifications.

The biggest exhibitors will be Limkokwing University of Creative Technology with 16 booths, followed by MAHSA University with 10 booths.

MAHSA University Business Development director Ananthajayan Ramanathan said the varsity’s counsellors and academic team will be on the ground to provide guidance to visitors.

He said the university is offering discounts, bursaries and scholarships to prospective students who have done well in their examinations, adding that they need to bring their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results slip (or equivalent), relevant education certificates and their identification card.

“MAHSA will be providing offer letters on the spot to students who qualify,” he said during the fair’s balloting session held at Menara Star on Thursday.

City University College of Science and Technology sales and marketing executive Jaffrin Shahrom said the Star Education Fair is a good platform for students who are not sure about what they want to do in the future.

Students can seek advice from the institution’s experienced team of counsellors and academicians, he said.

They can also find out about scholarships and financial aid which City University College is offering.

University of Southampton Malaysia campus marketing and recruitment officer Illi Saddique said the fair is a one-stop centre for visitors to obtain information about different courses and subjects.

She said the University of Southampton Malaysia Campus, Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia, University of Reading Malaysia and Educity, Iskandar Malaysia, Johor will be exhibiting alongside each other during the fair.

Students seeking a British education can check out their eight booths, she said, adding that early bird discounts are available.

International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW) sales and marketing director Gary Tan said students can inquire about a variety of programmes and apply for scholarships and bursaries.

Berjaya University College operations and events director Pilar Palma said students who are unsure of which course to take can sit for a compatibility test to determine the most suitable programme they could pursue.

Besides scholarships and financial aid, visitors can also attend education and career-related talks at the fair held over both days.

The Star Education Fair will be held at Exhibition Halls 4 and 5 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 11am to 7pm. Admission is free. Booths are available for interested exhibitors. For details, call 03-7967 1388 (ext 1233/1475).
