Fulfilling dreams and aspirations

THE adage we should help people help themselves certainly rings true in education, where for many, it is the key to a brighter and more meaningful future – often not just for themselves but for their family as well.

In line with its core purpose to empower today’s youth through education, Taylor’s University has always believed in providing opportunities to outstanding and talented Malaysian students access to quality education.

Every year, 100 exceptional students are selected from thousands of applications to receive 100% scholarship after a rigorous selection process.

Despite the stringent selection process, those who were successful benefited immensely from the chance to complete their tertiary education without worrying about tuition fees.

Through the Taylor’s University Scholarship programme, young, bright, deserving students will have the chance to fulfil their dreams and aspirations, and make a positive contribution to society via a world-class education.

One of the 2017 Taylor’s Scholarship recipients is Sathish Varman, a mechanical engineering undergraduate who sees this award as a platform to shine and fully develop his potential.

“In the next few years, I see myself inventing new things and doing my research in engineering physics, working with top professors and scientists around the world to bring change to the world of science,” said the confident young man.

Taylor’s University vice-chancellor and president Prof Michael Driscoll is excited and confident that the upcoming batch of scholarship recipients will be just as promising.

“We believe in providing opportunities to deserving students to have access to quality education at tertiary level.

“I am encouraged by the quality of applicants that applied for Taylor’s University scholarships. Based on our previous batch of scholarship recipients, I know that they will grow to become outstanding graduates, able to make a difference in their respective community, in their own unique way,” said Prof Driscoll.

He added: “The education journey that every Taylor’s student gets is unique. Apart from getting access to quality education and world class teaching and learning facilities, successful candidates will be exposed to countless activities that will help them gain critical life skills and nurture emotional well-being.

“Here at Taylor’s, we strive to provide more than just education to our students; we equip them with skills and attitudes to make them successful entrepreneurs and leaders.

“They also get to become part of a large multi-ethnic and multi-national community of scholars, which will provide them with the unique opportunity to study alongside the brightest students in Malaysia and from around the world.”

Students interested in applying for Taylor’s University scholarships are encouraged to do so online.

Qualified applicants will be notified via email, by the scholarship committee, upon which the date for the first interview would be set. The applicant will be notified of the results seven days later, after which the applicant has another seven days to accept it.

There are Merit Scholarship and Talent Scholarship, each with its set of application criteria.
