Poetry competition open to undergrads

THE English Language Carnival 2017, organised by the Higher Education Ministry will feature a new competition this year.

The Malaysian Universities Poetry Writing competition is sponsored by the ministry and organised by the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus’s (UNMC) School of English.

UNMC CEO and Provost Prof Graham Kendall said the university has a long history of supporting literary activities and looks forward to undergraduates using the English language in creative writing.

“This is something new and very exciting.

“We hope many students will take up the challenge and participate in the competition.

“UNMC is a strong advocate of the arts and is honoured to be given the opportunity to organise this competition,” Prof Kendall said.

She added that the competition is open to both Malaysian and international undergraduates studying in Malaysian universities from any field of study.
