Kamalanathan flagged off the run.

ONE thousand pupils took part in a three kilometre run around the town of Pengkalan Chepa in Kelantan.

This included an obstacle course activity in an effort to inculcate a healthy lifestyle as well as improve the health and well-being of the community.

Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad (Dutch Lady Malaysia) in partnership with the Education Ministry and state education department organised the Larian Cergas Ceria Dutch Lady 2016 for pupils from SK Datu’ Hashim, Pengkalan Chepa.

Research from the Southeast Asia Nutrition Survey conducted by Dutch Lady Malaysia’s parent company FrieslandCampina, shows that almost half of the children surveyed suffer from a lack of Vitamin D, while one out of 20 had malnutrition due to unbalanced nutritional choices and a lack of physical activity.

These are issues which this initiative aims to address.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk P Kamalanathan flagged off the run.

Dutch Lady Malaysia board member Datuk Dr Mhd Nordin Mohd Nor said the company was inspired to create the running event. This was to raise awareness among the younger generation about the importance of good nutrition and physical activity to ensure they lead a healthy lifestyle.
