PRINCIPAL Chia Song Choy is well-known for including Malay pantuns into his speeches. As the head of Chong Hwa Independent High School, his speeches are mostly in Chinese.
“Chinese students make up the majority in this school. But if I only speak in Mandarin, non-Chinese students and staff would not understand anything, and I want them to feel that we are a family,” Chia said.
