UNIVERSITI Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) is targeting to become the first choice of all students from next year, said its vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose.

He said he did not want UMK to be the last choice for students intending to pursue tertiary education in the country.

He added that a study showed that 85% of students picked UMK as their first choice as compared to 55% previously.

“This is a positive increase, whereby students are opting for this university as their preferred choice, as compared to the earlier years after UMK was established in 2007.”

Prof Raduan also said the university would hire 185 lecturers to conduct courses through various programmes offered as well as send lecturers to gain more knowledge in other universities in Malaysia and abroad. — Bernama
