CHILDREN from Kinderland D’Shire, Taska Kinderland Kota Damansara and Kinderland Southlake dolled up to celebrate Kinderland’s 30th anniversary concert and graduation ceremony in true Bollywood glamour at Sekolah Seri Cahaya recently.
The event was a blend of modern and traditional dances and percussions as almost 200 children, aged three to six, took to the stage to whirl and twirl to the tunes of Bollywood Hip Hop and Sonia, Sonia.
The sequin-encrusted hot pink and vibrant aqua costumes were a far cry from the traditional Indian garb as they screamed fun, colour and glamour.
The little divas batted their eyelashes and won the audience over as they exuded confidence and pizazz in their performance.
The concert, themed “Reaching for the Stars”, was aimed at reminding parents and educators to provide a supportive environment in which each student is encouraged to reach his highest academic potential.
“Active participation in the learning process and community service projects inspires each student to become a lifelong learner and, ultimately, a responsible world citizen armed to face the challenges of our rapidly changing world,” said Lita Goh, principal and director of Kinderland D’shire.
Also present to officiate the opening ceremony was managing director of Crestar Education Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Arthur Ng.
In his opening spech, Ng said that participating in a concert like this added a dimension of excitement to the students’ childhood.
“Apart from intellect building, the interaction with peers and adults prepares children for the social and emotional skills required as healthy adolescents,” he added.
Ng also presented an award to Goh, for heading the most promising Kinderland centre for 2008.
