IT IS no surprise that some people think that the Education Ministry 's matriculation colleges are like top-secret army camps, training selected soldiers to serve the country.
Located in the middle of nowhere, security is tight at most colleges, with classes starting at 8am and continuing until 5pm on most days. The students are not allowed to venture out of their campus until the weekend, but even then most have too much on their plate to go anywhere.
