IT’S NOT the rather generous spread of food that cheers Dr George Chang up when he has his meals at Crossroads, the largest dining commons at the University of California Berkeley. It is the sight of students reading newspapers that he has personally made available to them for free.
A little notice titled “Papers with the Professor” on one of the tables near the entrance explains the personal project he set up about four months ago at Crossroads which serves about 3,000 students, mostly freshmen.
