Celebrating away from home

CELEBRATING Deepavali in Nepal is a grand affair indeed. The festival is known as “Dihar” and celebrated over five days. The first four days are for the worship of crows, dogs, cows, and the goddess Lakshmi respectively, while the last day is to celebrate the relationship between brothers and sisters.

In Tanzania, Hari Raya Aidilfitri or “Eid” is a time for family togetherness and celebration, with everyone enjoying themselves after the austerity of Ramadan.
