Costumes contest the highlight of National Day do

SYSTEMATIC Secretarial Centre held its National Day celebration by organising several activities and games. 

Centre principal Ramesh Pathamanathan said the students, staff and lecturers put in a lot of effort to make the event a success. 

“We are delighted that students and lecturers from Systematic Institute of Information Technology and MLVK vocational training students joined us in the celebration. 

“International students got the chance to experience the many traditions and cultures that make up Malaysia,” he said. 

Some of the events included a traditional costume contest, modern Chinese and Indian dances, Malay poetry recital, Arabian dance, modern Bhangra dance, “Love Malaysia” dedication contest and a costume design contest.

The highlight of the day was the traditional costume contest that saw many creative outfits with a touch of the latest fashions.  

Student Ng Wai Yee won the crown for best traditional costume followed by first runner-up Nurul Huda Md Masruddin and second runner-up Charan Jeet Kaur.  

A special award ceremony by City & Guild Pitman (UK) Examination Board was also held for three students who attained outstanding results in the December 2004 examination.  

The awards were presented to the students by City & Guild country director Ian Oswin Noronha, 

Secretarial students Chee Mee Yin, Cheng Do Ee and R. Ananthi were awarded full Diploma in secretarial and administration scholarships for their outstanding results.
