Public unis bag 46 gold medals for inventions

AN ULCER in the mouth which prevented Universiti Malaya (UM) Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Hashim Yaacob from indulging in his mother’s delicious cooking was what inspired him and his research partners to an award-winning discovery.

Their plaster for ulcers and wounds in turn led to a gold medal at the 33rd International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products held in Geneva, Switzerland, earlier this month.
