TRUE STORIES abound about the dengue plague. A colleague was hospitalised last year due to dengue fever. When it happened, all of us at school were fearful of every mosquito that flew our way. For days, we worried as to whether the water in our school’s drains was the culprit behind his hospital stay.
We later got a first-hand account of what it was like – the high fever, rash, pain behind his eyes, nausea and vomiting. “The worst,” he told us, “was the severe joint and muscle pain I suffered.”
