I READ with interest the article by Mallika Vasugi entitled The worth of an ‘A' (StarEducation, Dec 12). Besides bringing back memories of my delight the day the results were announced, the article also reminds me of the time when I told my friends that getting all As does not guarantee anything in life and does not mean that the high achiever is better than others.
I sat for my SPM in 1998 and managed to obtain As for all the nine subjects I took. Back then, the number of students scoring straight As was already quite high although not as high as nowadays.
