Pushing for the girls

GENDER biasness exists. Even in schools. Just ask the average Malaysian and you will notice that he or she tends to assume that girls are not suited to subjects like Mathematics, Engineering, Physics and Architecture.

At school whenever a competition in chess, gymnastics, rocket technology, scientific inventions or the like is held, boys get automatically chosen to take part. Boys also seem to take the lead for any enterprise involving mechanics or electronics. If any project has some form of wiring, lighting, switches, or gadgets in it, you can bet your last dollar that the project will be automatically awarded to boys. Unless, of course, it’s an all-girls schools. Then, there’s really no choice, is there?
