A survey conducted in 1997 showed that about 13% of Malaysia's six million teenagers suffered from some form of mental health problems arising from stress.
Speaking at a workshop on Stress and work pressure among youth, organised recently by Monash University Malaysia (MUM), clinical psychologist Dr Teoh Hsien-Jin said the figure could have risen much higher in recent years as greater expectations are placed on students.
