Aid for children of petty traders

FIVE children of Kuala Lumpur hawkers and petty traders were recently awarded scholarships amounting to RM100,000 by Systematic Institute of Information Technology (SIIT) in conjunction with the Grand Patriotic Gathering of Malaysian Chinese Community in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 30 to celebrate 46 years of the country’s independence.

The college’s chief executive, Vijendran Arulrajah, said the scholarship was part of its effort to extend educational support to children of members of the Kuala Lumpur Hawkers and Petty Traders Association who have long sustained their small-scale business in the capital city within the Chinatown location where SIIT is situated.
