Sunway signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with NCC Education Limited to run a Computer Pioneers Programme (CPP) for secondary school students. The CPP designed by NCC is a series of courses that enable children to develop computing and Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills from an early age.
Sunway College is the first accredited local partner and centre to deliver the programme.
We are proud to be associated with this programme as it is in line with our vision of producing an IT- savvy knowledge society, through the education of the younger generation, said Lee.
The best thing about the CPP course is its flexibility as it is run after school or during the school holidays. It is divided equally between workbook-based learning and practical activities. All assessments are carried out by Sunway College under guidelines issued by NCC, which awards a certificate to students who achieve passing marks in each course.
Courses offered include the NCC Education Computer Whizzkid (English), the International Computer Driving License (advanced computer studies) for students aged 11 to 14 years old; and the NCC Education Computer Ace (preparation for GCSE and O'Level assessment) for students aged 14 to 16 years old.
o Sunway College received a helping hand for its students welfare and activities from its library book suppliers recently.
The donors which included Knowledge Quest Sdn Bhd and University Bookstores, Academia Bookstores, Gerakbudaya Enterprise and Pustaka Viswa, made the pledge to contribute a percentage of their sales during the launching of a Mini Book Fair organized by the colleges Tun Hussein Onn Library (THOL).
Sunway College principal Elizabeth Lee was grateful for their contribution as they have been very supportive of many activities carried out by the college and the students over the years. She added that the book suppliers have worked closely with the librarians and academic staff to help boost the number of books in the library collection.
