Giving up sleep for great grades

TOP ENGINEERING student Yap Chooi Peng claims she wasn't always “smart”. She never got any As in primary school and her passion was sleeping. However, the opportunity to attend her sister's graduation changed all that.

“I am not that smart or anything but I always got the support of my family who told me to 'do my best and leave the results to God'. In fact, when I was in primary school, I never scored any As and was dubbed 'the girl who only knows how to sleep' by my family!” says Yap who has just completed her second year at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, studying chemical and process engineering.
