ABOUT 30 students from the University of Sheffield/Taylor’s College LL.B twinning programme visited the High Court and Sessions Court in Shah Alam recently.
After a short briefing, the students were taken to witness cases in Sessions Court No. 3, a criminal court. The cases were presided over by court president Suraya Othman who later briefed them on court procedure.
“Students were thrilled with the visit and the chance to get a first-hand look at the legal process,'' said lecturer Joseph Lai.
One student observed that the Malaysian court is quite different from what is depicted in American courtroom dramas.
“It is interesting to know how the Malaysian legal system works,'' said another student.
