Western culture spawns social ills

I COMMEND StarEducation for its coverage of the bullying epidemic in schools (Tackling the bully, June 15). A comment made by one of the young “bullies” interviewed for the story came across as striking. When asked where he got his bullying tactics, the boy replied” “I learnt if from watching TV, especially my favourite World Wrestling Federation programme every Thursday.”

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad said recently Malaysians must be able to scrutinise and even rethink what they take and adopt from the West. The PM understands the influence foreign cultural milieu has on efforts to build a peaceful Malaysia.
