Garden International's cultural bash

WITH students from 58 different countries, Garden International School (GIS) in Kuala Lumpur is a microcosm of the world community. Once a year, the school celebrates its ethnic and cultural diversity by holding an International Week, during which students trade knowledge and information about their home cultures and customs.

Addressing parents at the recent International Week celebrations, school principal Ray Davis said: “In the present climate of world turmoil there has never been a greater need to understand the cultural values and customs of other nations. Our duty is to ensure that today’s students, who will become tomorrow’s decision-makers, develop such an understanding.”
