TEACHING English as a government teacher in Malaysia can be a very painful experience. Why do we still persevere despite everything? I wrote in1994 that if I were to leave the profession it would not be because I loved the profession less but because I loved my life more.
Being a Malaysian teacher of the English Language can be such a soul-wrenching exercise in futility. There are so many restrictions and limitations. For those who need to express their creativity, they are caught in a web of bureaucracy. There are so many unproductive and irksome regulations to follow.
