The United World College experience

Attending a United World College (UWC)is a personally enriching,life-changing experience that many students havefound invaluable. 

UWC is a group of 10 international schools located throughout the world and dedicated to promoting international understanding through education. 

Students of diverse ethnic origins gather to live and study together in an environment that fosters peace,co-operation and personalchallenges. 

The first college,UWC of the Atlantic in Wales was founded in 1962.The rest are in Italy,the United States,Canada,HongKong,India,Norway,Venezuela,Singapore and South Africa. 

UWC education gives emphasis to service,cultural and political sensitivities and all-round achievement in bothacademic and extra-curricular activities. 

All UWCs have approximately 200 students taking the pre-university International Baccalaureate over two years. 

Former South African president Nelson Mandela and Queen Noor of Jordan are joint presidents of the movement.
