Treasuring our history

At risk: The Mughal-styled Vivekananda ashram was built after a round of fundraising in 1911.

ALMOST a decade ago, one of the most charming old mansions in the city — the iconic Bok House — was demolished.

The Government at that point had stated that it could do nothing to protect the building because it was privately-owned and it was not registered as a heritage building under the National Heritage Act 2005 (NHA 2005).
